Battery Overview

Batteries store electricity. Simple. Not really, as I've come to learn. The minor adjustments of materials means a lot to a batterys performance and power. Basically there are Sealed Lead Acid (SLA), Lithium Ion (Li-ion), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), and Nickel Cadmium (NiCad).

Within each type are various voltages, amp ratings, output capabilities, and recharge characteristics. These all affect what can be done, and the most efficient may be out classed by price. For instance, I've heard (but haven't researched yet) that Li-Ions will ouput fully until drained, whereas SLA batteries the output wil slowly decrease. And while full output is desireable, it's cheaper to purchase several SLAs to make up the difference.

I'll be doing full reviews of the various battery types, sizes, and outputs in the coming weeks.
